The formation of the KomRex

After the series of murders by the right-wing terrorist group "National Socialist Underground" (NSU) became known in 2011, the social discourse on the causes and manifestations of organized right-wing extremism as well as the manifestation and spread of right-wing extremist attitudes in the population increased.

Friedrich Schiller University Jena has been making important contributions to this topic since the early 1990s.
In 2011, the "Competence Center for Right-Wing Extremism" (KomRex) was founded to bundle and strengthen research activities in the field of right-wing extremism and make them visible to the public.
