The documentary Kein Land für Niemand – Abschottung eines Einwanderungslandes examines the paradigm shift in German migration policy in the context of recent political developments, particularly the tightening of border and asylum policies. Drawing on observations from Europe’s external borders as well as narrative perspectives of refugees, the film connects humanitarian realities with shifting public and political discourses within Germany.
It focuses on the question of how migration is politicized and what role media dynamics, societal insecurities, and party-political strategies play in shaping the public discourse. Through interviews with scholars, politicians, and activists, the film contributes to the analysis of current restrictive trends in migration policy and their broader societal causes and consequences.
We are pleased to welcome the director, Max Ahrens, who will provide further insights into the development and production of the film.
The screening includes German and English subtitles.
